This is the second issue of the Fayetteville Feed. This time, the cover story was on internet comedians, musicians, videographers and hosts, Rhett and Link. These guys were sports and were also fun to work with. I feel their work will best describe what they do.

Fayetteville Feed - Paddy
Recently, I started shooting covers and features for a new arts and entertainment magazine called Fayetteville Feed. It is currently online only but the creator, James Johnson, aims to display the featured artists in photographs closer to national magazines rather than those of a local rag. I am honored he thinks of my work in this way and instantly agreed to shoot a series of covers when he approached me.
This is the first issue spotlighting musician and pub owner Paddy Gibney. Paddy has a long history in Fayetteville, NC, and along with his band mate Bill Ayerbe, they have a huge following that spreads all over the state. My Father and I met with Paddy and Bill at Paddy's Pub one Friday at around 8pm. After a few drinks and a lot of talk we ended up eating dinner together, and by the time dinner was over they were about to go on stage, so, Dad and I stayed to maybe catch a couple of tunes. Yeah Right. We left close to 3am totally pissed and absolutely blown away by their stage performance! I have never seen a band connect with a crowd so successfully and in such a personal way. They play a mix of traditional Irish drinking songs, covers and originals and it is a sight to behold. Picture a packed bar full beyond capacity where every single person is singing along with one Guiness filled pint in the air and their other arm around the patron next to them. What a blast!

CARDIACT 1
Cardiact is a rapper that came in for some test shots for me this weekend. If you guys haven't heard any of his tracks, trust me you will. He's an extremely talented artist who is fully dedicated to his craft. Dad and I worked on a shoot with him a few months back and were blown away by his new album. Seriously, I find it harder and harder to find rap artists that have anything to say other than how much champy they drink in a day rollin' in their countless cars filled with a gaggle of hoes. Cardiact IS different. He is extremely insightful and doesn't pretend to be someone who he isn't. I think it takes some real thought to look at your own life and know that problems, shortcomings, triumphs and outlooks are truly unique to each person. He raps about how he feels and what he knows but in a way that the listener can relate. We hope to continue working and hanging with him far into the future. On this project I played with some textures and lighting effects and left the original files with the new ones to show the difference. Remember feedback and comments are always welcome.

Jammbas Ranch is always fun and so is hanging out with Alex, Aubrey and Kelly. We had tons of animals to feed and pet. Katrina and I love when the family visits.

The Reigning Wet T-Shirt Champ!
Amanda is the Wet T-Shirt Contest Champion at the Ugly Stick Saloon. As sponsors, our lovely winner was offered the prize of a 2 Hour shoot at Candy Gram Images, and she graciously accepted. She is quickly comfortable in front of a camera and is easy to get to know. With as much fun as we had, I'm sure we'll sponsor more of these fabulous events with photo shoot prizes.

Bobcat Attack!
Alicia is great to work with and isn't afraid to try things that seem like they might not work, like posing with a stuffed bobcat. She has a great attitude, a wonderful personality, and in case you haven't noticed, she is beautiful. This was lots of fun. I think Alicia, Katrina and I laughed the whole time.

Postcards From Dyslexic Heads
I have to say this was exasperating to shoot because it was taken at a show dedicated in remembrance of a long time and loved friend, Atom Xmas. His brother Josh, Eddie and Uly ,performed as Dyslexic Postcards at PS14 in Downtown Miami. These photos were snapped in between fits of crying and consoling an amazingly supportive and uncommonly large group of real friends at the show. I managed to get some shutter drag shots and worked on some in post for effect. Whatever, I miss Adam.
Adam Hernandez, son of Jose and Kay, brother of Joshua and loved by anyone who came in contact with him. A look through any window into Adam's life at any time would reveal a kid with a smile. He had an ability to take things as they came, as if he'd been there and done that. Adam could figure anything out just by watching and paying attention. Bass and guitar were a breeze for him, growing up sitting in on all our practices, but he was a drummer right off the bat. I could show up to practice at Kay's house, on any given day and find him bashing away at my drums. Like Tommy Lee's headband, he soaked it all up. I remember Adam coming over to the house to play with my little bro, Jorge. Jorge taught him in one day how to do stop animation and they made movies. They must've been 10 years old at most. By 14 he was sitting in with us and played with Josh and me for years. It was staggering to take in the multitude of people that showed up in support the next night at a gathering in his honor. Adam has two separate generations of friends, those who were his age and those Josh's age. We all gravitated towards him. Those who knew him thought he was the coolest, those who didn't know him felt, maybe they should. The holes he leaves are dug deeper owing to the fact that he only lived to be 26. My thoughts are drawn to those who miss him...........................I Love You Adam.
